Institute of Mathematics and Mathematical Modelling

Institute was established in 1965. Since 1965 it was called the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, since 1992 it was known as the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mathematics, since 1999 it was known as the Institute of Mathematics, from 2012 it is the Institute of Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling.

250 persons work at the Institute. Among 213 Scientists of the Institute there are 5 Academicians and 4 Corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences, 63 Dr. of Sciences, 57 Candidates of Sciences and 16 Ph.D., 2 USSR State Prize winners,  6 winners of Kazakhstan State Prize, 8 Honored Science and Technology Workers of Kazakhstan.

The principal scientific research fields are as follows: analysis, differential equations, algebra, mathematical logic, geometry, probability theory, mathematical statistics, mathematical physics and mathematical modeling.

The scientists of the Institute are the awardees of the International Humboldt's Grant, International Khorezmi Prize, Soros Foundation, INTAS, American Mathematical Society, ISTC, CNRS of France and others.

In 1998 the Kazakhstan Mathematical Society was founded on the basis of the Institute (since 1994 Kazakhstan is a member of the International Mathematical Union, since 1998 itis a member of the International Mathematical Society of Asian Countries).
